How our service works.

At Nurturing Family Connections UK Ltd, we believe that getting started should be simple, structured, and stress-free.
Our process is designed to ensure safety, clarity, and consistency for everyone involved — including parents, solicitors, Cafcass officers, and Local Authorities.

Below is our standard process from the moment a referral is received through to the start of contact.

1. Referral Received (1–2 Working Days Response)

Once we receive a referral from a parent, solicitor, Cafcass officer or Local Authority, we will:

  • Acknowledge the referral within 1–2 working days
  • Review the information provided
  • Identify any immediate safeguarding considerations
  • Allocate a suitable Contact Supervisor based on the needs of the case

You will receive an email confirming the next steps.

2. Registration & Assessment Appointment (Booked Once Payment Received)

To ensure the safety and suitability of all contact arrangements, we require a £99 Registration Fee.

Once payment is received:

  • We schedule a Registration Appointment with the referring parent
  • We gather background information
  • Risk factors, expectations, and goals for contact are discussed
  • Documentation is reviewed (court orders, agreements, LA requirements, etc.)

This appointment ensures we fully understand the family’s needs and can plan safely.

3. Second Parent Registration Appointment

After Parent 1’s assessment is completed, we arrange a separate Registration Appointment for the second parent or party involved.

This maintains neutrality, transparency, and ensures both adults have:

  • Equal opportunity to share information
  • An understanding of expectations
  • Knowledge of how sessions are delivered
  • The chance to raise any concerns

Both assessments must be completed before moving forward.

4. Pre-Contact Visit / Child Introduction Session

Before contact begins, we arrange a Pre-Contact Visit so the child or children can:

  • Meet their allocated Contact Supervisor
  • Become familiar with the contact setting
  • Ask questions (when appropriate)
  • Feel safe, supported, and prepared

This step is essential for reducing anxiety and promoting a positive first contact session.

5. Agreement & Confirmation

Once both parents have completed their assessments and the child has attended their introduction session, we:

  • Finalise the contact plan
  • Confirm the type of contact (Supervised, Supported, Third-Party, etc.)
  • Agree the schedule and location
  • Share expectations and boundaries
  • Obtain written agreement from both parties

Only when EVERYTHING is in place do we move safely to the next stage.

6. Contact Begins (Usually Within 7 Days of Final Agreement)

Contact will typically begin within 7 days once all assessments, agreements, and introductions are complete.

During contact, we will:

  • Support children and families sensitively
  • Maintain safety and professionalism
  • Provide notes or reports when required
  • Communicate clearly with both parties and professionals
  • Review progress as needed

We aim to provide a smooth, calm, and positive experience for all involved.

7. Ongoing Support & Review

Throughout the contact arrangement, we offer ongoing:

  • Communication
  • Review points
  • Reports or summaries (if ordered/requested)
  • Adjustments to sessions as needed
  • Support with stepping down to Supported or Independent contact when appropriate

We work collaboratively with solicitors, Local Authorities, and Cafcass to ensure contact remains safe and child-centred.
